Once you get how loved you are, it’s time to pay it forward. Show that love to God, your neighbours, your friends, your church, your leaders, your family, the crazy woman who always sits next to you on the bus, the guy behind the counter at the petrol station, the person who collects your bins on a Tuesday and, if it’s part of your story, your husband/wife. Focus on the time you spend with the people you love, the times you share with them and the opportunities to love them well. This is your treasure.
For the mountains may depart
Isaiah 54:10 (ESV)
and the hills be removed,
but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,
and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,”
says the Lord, who has compassion on you
We can never meet a love partner that can top the love story God has alrady given to us.
The song ‘Reckless Love’ by Cory Asbury has become like an anthem for Christians who have gone through recovery from an addiction because it perfectly reflects what Gods love is like! Unmeasured, unreserved and nonsensical in the worldly view. God is relentless in how he shows his love, protection and care.
There is a love for us, right here and now, that feels so much greater than that of a partner. It helps us distinguish between what we think we need and desire to what we actually need and desire.
