Invisible Divides

This series explores Invisible Divides, why believing is not the same as belonging and how we ensure church is a place for everyone, including people of different social classes. Including interviews with the authors we explore this important topic over four weeks.

Why is Class Important? - Session One

In session one we explore whether or not our social class is an issue in the church and in wider society today.

Barriers Between the Classes - Session Two

In this second session we explore the different barriers and divides between the social classes.

Barriers Within the Church - Session Three

In this third session we look at the Church and how there are barriers and divides between the social classes within it.

Vision for the Future - Session Four

In this fourth and final session we look to the future to solutions to the issue of invisible divides. How can we develop a Church community where diversity is valued.

Paul Brown

Paul Brown is the son of a lorry driver who left school at 16 and is now minister of a thriving church in Southwark, reaching out to predominantly working-class communities. Paul has spoken on the relationship between the church and the white working class at conferences and churches and to different forums of community leaders and members of Parliament. Invisible Divides is his first book.

Natalie Williams

Natalie Williams grew up in relative poverty in Hastings and was a journalist before becoming Head of Communications and Policy at Jubilee+, a national Christian charity that equips churches to meaningfully engage with those in need in their communities. She leads social action at King’s Church in Hastings & Bexhill, and her previous books are The Myth of the Undeserving Poor, A Church for the Poor and A Call To Act.
